The provider that hosts the sheltermanager.com servers were the victim of a distributed denial of service attack that lasted from 3:05pm until 4:40pm GMT. During that time, every server they hosted was inaccessible, including sheltermanager.com, while the link was saturated. The problem has now been fixed and I've been assured won't happen again. Many apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The smartphone interface now allows you to lookup and view details for any of your shelter animals. It has also been given an overhaul and ported to use JQuery Mobile. This makes the whole thing a little slicker and also adds some performance improvements.

sheltermanager.com user administration is now taken care of within ASM again. There's no need to go to the my account page to add and remove users.

We're no longer using the PayPal subscription system. We now have our own system, which prevents accidental payments by shelters and solve the issues involved with renewing a cancelled subscription. All existing subscriptions have been cancelled. You can now renew through the my account page.

The smartphone interface now supports viewing and completing diary actions. SSL has been applied throughout the site for additional security (database links have always been encrypted).

sheltermanager.com now has a smartphone interface for customers wanting to use their iPhone and Android phones. It currently supports creating log entries for animals, vaccinations and medications and generating reports on the move.

Moved! sheltermanager.com has moved to a new host. This offers us more RAM, more disk space and most importantly, 20Mbit bandwidth to improve performance for our shelters.

The move took 45 minutes, during which time the databases were down. The old host is now referring to the new for database access, so there should be no further downtime for shelters while the updated DNS propogates.

Single sign on is now available for ASM Online - users created with the My Account tool automatically generate matching database users now and you only need to authenticate once.

The online ASM is now fully compatible with MacOSX, as well as all versions of Windows, Linux and Java-enabled UNIX platforms.

It's the most asked for item - you can now use an online version of ASM with your database without having to install any software now. Just point your browser to http://sheltermanager.com/my/web.cgi, enter your database username/password and go. All upgrades are automatically taken care of.

A full backup solution is now in place. Backups are made at 4am every morning and archived. In addition, a weekly backup job is made every Monday morning at the same time. All backups are encrypted and mirrored to another internet server for redundancy. If you need to restore your data, contact us.
